Good Company Theatre Presents Catharsis Two In Parking Lot

Good Company Theatre Presents Catharsis Two In Parking Lot

In Catharsis Two: Inside Voices, the US Constitution is back. This time she busts a child out of ICE and the pair go on an adventure to find The New Normal. On the way they meet some other Goodies, try to avoid a bunch of Baddies, and attempt to make it through everything 2020 can throw at them!
“Wow. What a moment,” reflects Good Company Theatre Co-Director Camille Washington, who also wrote the show. “We’ve wanted to do a follow up to Catharsis for a while but the last few years of cultural upheaval made producing a sequel feel like trying to board a malfunctioning merry-go-round that’s speeding out of control. With COVID-19 still raging and winter fast approaching we decided to do it now because it might never happen if we don’t.”

“The logistics of producing Catharsis Two have been challenging,” says Good Company Theatre Co-Director Alicia Washington, who also stars as Constitution. “The safety of performers and audiences is crucial but we didn’t want that to distract from the experience or negatively impact our ability to be creative.”

Catharsis Two will be performed outside in Good Company Theatre’s parking lot. The stage area features original mural backdrop by local artist Leon Araujo that features illustrations of all the characters in the show. Pedro Flores (Sense and Sensibility, In The Heights) narrates in place of traditional action. Instead of interacting like in traditional theatre, actors will perform from their own safely distanced areas in front of the backdrop. DJ Battleship mixes the score live.

Catharsis Two: Inside Voices also features performances by Franki Ferreira (Mary Poppins, Legally Blonde The Musical), Dustin Bolt (Seussical: The Musical, Winnie The Pooh), Mack (Cinderella, Odettes For The Holidays), Heidi Potter Hunt (The Jungle, Mama Mia), and Avery Franklin (Gloria, A Fairly Potter Christmas).

Patrons will be seated in distanced boxes situated away from the stage area. A small box seats up to 3. A large box seats up to 6. Masks are required for audience members, and for all technical staff (i.e. everyone but the actors). Those who are able are encouraged to park in nearby public parking lots or use alternate means of transportation. Parking stalls in the GCT lot are limited due to the nature of the show.

This show runs September 24-October 3, 2020; Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30PM. It is 80 minutes with no intermission. There is mild language, and sound and lighting effects. It is suitable for audiences over age 13. Masks are required. Tickets are available at goodcotheatre.com, $35 for a small box and $70 for a large box. Check-in is contactless.
The address for the parking lot is 2420 Wall Avenue, Ogden, 84401. It is located on the east side of the building.
Production photos will be provided once available. Attached photos are of Alicia Washington as Constitution in the parking lot/onstage.

Produced with the generous support of Weber County RAMP.
