Eccles Theater presents Salt Lake Speaks Love in All Languages, an evening of poetry and the spoken word focused on Love in All Languages. Join us in an extra sensory experience where you listen and feel the vibration of words and the rhythm of poetry, whether it is spoken in your native language or another that mav be new to vou.
This multi-cultural, multi-lingual event is free to the public and will be held onstage in the Eccles Theater Grand Lobby on Friday, August 25, 2023.
Salt Lake Speaks is a series of live poetry and spoken word events sponsored by the Eccles Theater and Salt Lake County Arts & Culture. This is the third year for the series and the first event to focus on a specific theme. Love.
“Utah has an active, vibrant poetry community and our Salt Lake Speaks live poetry events are powerful experiences for artists and audiences,” said Jenn Niedfeldt, the producer of Salt Lake Speaks and Community Engagement Senior Manager for Salt Lake County Arts & Culture. “These events create a space for participants to share experiences and emotions, and fosters community connections
Eccles Theater is working with Gloria Arredondo, a Mexican poet, author, activist, and artist, to curate the Love in All Languages event.
“Love and Poetry is a perfect pairing for an evening of spoken word,” said Arredondo. “My hope is that this event will spark conversations, inspire creativity, and leave a lasting impression on everyone involved.”
In addition to the live spoken word, Michael Monson, a classical guitarist, will open the evening and play in between poetry sets. Tin Angel at the Eccles, one of Salt Lake’s favorite local restaurants will be open for light bites and cocktails before and during the event.
Salt Lake Speaks Love in All Languages will be held on Friday, August 25, in the Eccles Theater Grand Lobby.
Music begins at 7:00 p.m. and poetry starts at 7:30 p.m. The Eccles Theater is located in downtown Salt Lake ity at 131 S. Main Street. Tin Angel at the Eccles Is located in the lobby and opens at b p.m., reservations are recommended.
