Art for the Recovery Community is proud to present our fifth annual art festival on July 22 at Sugar Space Arts Warehouse.
ARC is an annual multidisciplinary art festival created to showcase and celebrate artists in recovery. The event opens at 6pm with a gallery exhibit featuring work by visual artists, painters, photographers, and more. An evening concert, starting at 7pm, will include performances by local poets, musicians, and dancers. The event will also include a raffle drawing for pieces donated by the artists, with all proceeds going towards the VOA’s Youth Resource Center. .
2023 will be our fifth year of ARC in Salt Lake City, and the first year of our satellite festival in Moab, Utah on July 8. When founding the festival in 2019, we recognized that conversations surrounding substance use disorders and addiction are often stigmatized and dominated by negative narratives. Our goal each year, instead, is two-fold. We work to provide the local recovery community a place to come together to celebrate the beauty, strength, and joy found in the journey to recovery. At the same time, ARC aims to create an event whose focus is grounded in the art itself, facilitating an opportunity for not only people in recovery but also the wider community to experience and engage with a diverse, dynamic array of work in a way that encourages connection and conversation.
ARC will be hosted on July 22 from 6-9pm at Sugar Space Arts Warehouse in downtown Salt Lake City, 132 South 800 W. The festival is free and open to the public. ARC is supported by the Salt Lake City Arts Council, the Utah Office of Substance Use and Mental Health, and the Utah Society of Addiction Medicine.
