Born and raised in the Idaho Falls area, Mortimer has demonstrated his commitment to service through his service in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, completing two combat tours in Iraq. Following his military service, Mortimer spent seven years working at the Idaho Department of Finance as a Consumer Finance Examiner/Investigator, gaining valuable experience in the financial sector.
