Craft Lake City & Midvale City Team Up For Mural Festival Workshop

Craft Lake City & Midvale City are proud to announce the introduction of a DIY mural workshop to the Los Muros On Main: Midvale City Mural Festival for the very first time! The How To Paint Your Own Mural Workshop will be held at The Art House (7697 Main Street, Midvale, UT, 84047) on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in advance of the Los Muros On Main: Midvale City Mural Festival. This event is free for the public to attend, but pre-registration is required.

As part of this workshop, 3 different local mural artists will instruct on a variety of topics surrounding mural artwork, leading into a hands-on mural design activity where attendees can sketch their mural ideas & receive feedback, advice and more from the instructors. Each of the 3 instructors will start by giving a presentation about their unique mural tricks & techniques that attendees can then use as inspiration to create their own beautiful, unique and durable murals for homes or businesses. The instructors will discuss both indoor & outdoor mural-making techniques, with an emphasis on indoor painting methods.

“I am pleased to announce the upcoming mural workshop as part of the Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival,” says Marcus Stevenson, Midvale City Mayor. “Our local artists are a vital part of our community, and we’re excited to offer them this opportunity to further develop their skills and connect with one another. This free workshop is just one of many activities planned for the festival, which we hope will bring vibrancy and a sense of pride to Midvale Main: Arts & Culture District. We encourage everyone to join us and celebrate the incredible talent of our local artists.”

The Los Muros On Main: Midvale City Mural Festival aims to celebrate the unique character of the local community while providing a platform for creators to showcase their talents, and will be held on Saturday, June 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is the second year for the annual festival following a successful first outing last summer.

“It’s been a great pleasure to work with Midvale and our group of mural artists to organize this workshop,” says Angela H. Brown, Executive Director of Craft Lake City. “We’re honored to be part of this year’s mural festivities and can guarantee you don’t want to miss this amazing art education opportunity.”
Craft Lake City is no stranger to workshops, hosting around fifty artisan workshops each year. Craft Lake City partners with local venues to provide these in-person, artisan-taught crafting opportunities in a variety of fun and atmospheric settings. This is the first workshop collaboration between the Midvale City Mural Festival and Craft Lake City but hopefully not the last.
