PEG Hospitality Announces Two Chef Appointments to it’s Popular Hotels

 PEG Hospitality Group, the Utah-based, full-service hospitality company, announces new chef appointments to two of its popular Utah hotels. Sam Walter is named Executive Chef at Black Rock Mountain Resort’s Overlook Restaurant in Park City, Utah and Doug Gerpheide is named Chef de Cuisine at the award winning wood.ash.rye located at The Advenire, Autograph Collection Hotel, in St. George, Utah. It was announced today by PEG Hospitality, Director of Food and Beverage, and renowned Utah chef, Shon Foster.

As Executive Chef at Overlook, a new American restaurant with multi-cultural influences, Walter will oversee the day to day operations, culinary direction, menu curation and execution, and hotel events. Chef Walter was most recently at PEG Hospitality’s wood.ash.rye at The Advenire, Autograph Collection Hotel. He brings extensive hospitality and culinary experience to Black Rock Mountain Resort having spent over 15 years in Austin’s thriving culinary scene, with restaurant experience including Jeffrey’s, Otoko, Justine’s, Uchico, and Lenior working along-side world renowned chefs Tyson Cole, Paul Qui, and Yoshi Okai. Prior to joining PEG Hospitality, Walter was a Development Chef for Clark Cooper Concepts in Houston, TX. He is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas.

As Chef de Cuisine at wood.ash.rye, Gerpheide will oversee all food and beverage operations, including menu curation and execution, hotel & catering events, as well as room service. The award-winning restaurant, most recently awarded by Salt Lake City Magazine as ‘2023 Restaurant to Watch’, is touted for its regionally sourced ingredients used to create one-of-a-kind seasonal dishes. Gerpheide brings nearly 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked at prestigious hotels & resorts across the country. Prior to joining PEG Hospitality, Gerpheide was Executive Chef at Utah’s famed Movara Fitness Resort (as seen on NBC’s The Biggest Loser). Before moving to Utah, Gerpheide was tapped as the opening Executive Chef at The Rim Restaurant in Burleson, TX, responsible for concept and development, menu curation, and staff leadership. Prior to that, Gerpheide worked as Executive Sous Chef at Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, TX, a historic PGA tour location, overseeing daily operations, menu curation, a la carte operations, as well as managing the robust catering and banquet operations at the multi-outlet, private golf club. Chef Gerpheide is a Graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Portland, OR.
