The Forbes Five-Star Stein Eriksen Lodge will host an apres-ski toast in honor of their renowned namesake at this year’s Stein Eriksen Day celebration. Proclaimed by Governor Mike Leavitt in 2001, Stein Eriksen Day celebrates the life of the revolutionary ski legend Stein Eriksen on his birthday, and the Lodge welcomes guests to properly toast him on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in front of the Stein Trophy Case in the Mountain Lodge.
“Stein Eriksen Day is such a special time each year for us all to pause, reflect, and honor the incredible ski legend and warm, genuine spirit of Stein Eriksen,’” said Russ Olsen, CEO of Stein Collection. “We invite guests and staff to gather with us to hear from those who were close to him and how his influence is alive and well each day at Stein Eriksen Lodge.”
Russ Olson, CEO of Stein Eriksen Lodge and Tom Kelly will make brief remarks to pay homage to Stein Eriksen’s memory and inspiring story. Guests and staff will share a Champagne toast to honor the late icon.
Recognized as the “Father of Modern Downhill Skiing,” Norwegian alpine ski racer Stein Eriksen was a six-time Olympic medalist. His overt enthusiasm and flawless style helped drive Park City’s present-day reputation as an elite winter sports destination.
