Stein Eriksen Lodge Displays Annual Gingerbread House

Stein Eriksen Lodge Displays Annual Gingerbread House

The McCallisters will be temporarily residing at the Forbes Five-Star Stein Eriksen Lodge as the star of the annual gingerbread display. For the tradition’s 21st year, Executive Pastry Chef Ray Walker and his talented team of pastry artists have brought to life the timeless 2-story from the 1990 Christmas classic, Home Alone. The nostalgic display will stands next to the 32-foot-tall Christmas tree as part of the Lodge’s festive holiday décor in the Mountain Lodge.

The Home Alone gingerbread house includes 30 pounds of gingerbread, 40 pounds of chocolate, and 30 pounds of icing. The construction of the display began earlier this month by a skilled team of gingerbread specialists – and 90s film fans — led by Chef Walker and Chef Zane Holmquist, VP of Food & Beverage Operations and Corporate Chef.

“Guests who grew up loving Home Alone are now sharing the holiday tradition with their children, and we’re excited to be part of all the laughs and childhood memories the film’s family home brings,” said Chef Walker. “We hope that sharing our favorite laugh-out-loud scenes and sentimental details will bring smiles – and a memorable quote or two – to everyone who stops by for a visit.”

Guests are encouraged to linger and search for clues from the movie in the gingerbread display, including Kevin McCallister’s Battle Plan he created to fend off the robbers, Harry and Marv. Former gingerbread presentations have included last year’s ornate gingerbread village, along with movie scenes from Star Wars, PeanutsFrozenDespicable Me 2, and Harry Potter, and detailed models of a retro-styled rocket ship, Norwegian Viking ship, whimsical carousel, the Eiffel Tower, and the Empire State Building.
