Arts Council Releases Call For Local Artists To Join Pre-Qualified Artist Pool

Salt Lake City Arts Council

The Salt Lake City Arts Council released on Tuesday November 15, 2022, an opportunity for Utah artists to submit qualifications for potential inclusion in the 2023-2025 Pre-Qualified Artist Pool for upcoming public art opportunities. The Prequalified Artist Pool will be used to select artists for commissions on a range of new public art projects.

The purpose of the Pool is to commission more Utah artists for local projects and to integrate more artwork and artistic elements into citywide infrastructure while successfully meeting project schedules. Artists selected for the Pool will also be a part of an artist roster that is available to the community and other entities that may commission public art.

Examples of types of projects the Pool may be used for are sculptures, murals, place-making projects, serving in an advisory capacity, and opportunities to mentor other artists.
The Request for Qualifications is open to all artists residing in Utah, both emerging and established artists, individuals and artist-led teams, and artists working with a wide variety of mediums. Artists selected for the Pool will be eligible for City public art projects for a three year term, from January 2023-December 2025.

The mission of the Arts Council is to promote, present, and support artists, arts organizations, and arts activities in order to further the development of the arts community and to benefit the public by expanding awareness, access, and participation.
