Eccles Theater is celebrating the spirit of the season with Warm Embrace, a temporary holiday art installation, at its annual Lights On! public open house in the Eccles Grand Lobby on Monday, November 21. The art installation is sponsored by the Eccles Theater and is a project of the Salt Lake County Art in Public Places program.
Lights On! kicks off the holiday season with the official lighting of Warm Embrace, a one-of-a-kind temporary art piece designed by local artist Lenka Konopasek specifically for the Eccles Theater Grand Lobby. Following the official lighting, One Voice Children’s Choir will perform. The open house is free to the public and runs from 5:30 – 8:00 pm in the Eccles Theater Lobby.
Warm Embrace is a holiday tree made of colorful scarves and mittens with the different colors and patterns blending like the people that create our community. According to Konopasek, the piece evokes a feeling of togetherness and solidarity to help ease the sense of social anxiety in these tumultuous times.
In keeping with the spirit of Warm Embrace, Eccles Theater and Volunteers of America UTAH are holding a warm winter clothing drive for families in need. Please bring new or clean gently-used donations to the collection bin in Eccles Theater lobby.
Warm Embrace and the warm winter clothing drive collection bin will be in the Eccles Lobby through early January 2023.
