Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau awarded with a Gold Stella Award

Park City Chamber of Commerce

Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Group Sales team has been awarded with a Gold Stella Award, recognizing the organization as the top CVB in the Southwest, voted by members of the meeting planner community nationwide. The Park City CVB Group Sales team has received a Stella Award in each of the last five years, recognizing it in Successful Meetings Magazine as one of the top three bureaus in the region. The Group Sales Team also earned a Platinum Choice Award from Smart Meetings Magazine this past year, voted by meeting and event planners for skill and responsiveness in assisting planners with their event needs.

For Northstar Meeting Group’s Meeting & Convention Magazine, literally thousands of votes were cast from around the world for 278 destinations, hotels and service providers nominated in 18 categories in six regions in the United States and worldwide. This year, Park City surpassed both Glendale, Arizona and the Fort Worth, Texas CVBs to earn the Gold Award in the Southwest region. Others recognized with Gold Awards in North America included the Convention Bureaus of Orlando (Florida) and Toronto (Canada).

The publication shares, “Visit Park City…figuratively moves mountains to keep the city’s offerings fresh,” and notes “The bureau devised the City’s Sustainable Tourism Plan to incorporate elevated standards focusing on heritage, outdoor recreation, and management of the destination and the environment.”  It concludes, “The bureau offers clients options for fly-fishing, golf, over 400 miles of hiking and biking trails, ballooning, cooking classes, spas, whiskey distilling tours and tastings, horseback riding, curling at the local ice rink, gallery strolls, live music…the list goes on.”

Winners were recognized for achieving overall excellence, professionalism of staff, technology innovations, and other critical aspects of the meetings and event experience. “I am exceptionally proud of our team here in Park City,” notes Tonya Sweeten, Vice President of Group Sales. “Our destination is growing in prestige amongst meeting planners worldwide, but it is our team members, Carolyn Creek McCallister, Kim Davis and Alex Hagn who position Park City with world-class professionalism and allow planners to realize our town is a viable option for their meetings and events.” Jennifer Wesselhoff, CEO of the Park City CVB continues, “Being voted by planners worldwide as one of the best Bureaus in the country speaks volumes about the work being done in Park City on a daily basis. These groups are especially important because the majority meet in the Summer and Fall, outside of our popular winter ski season, keeping local employment strong all year long. The Group Sales team has been placing meetings in local hotels deep into the fall season this year and continues to field requests for groups all the way through 2030. We are grateful for the enthusiasm the meeting planner community is expressing for Park City experiences and for their willingness to adopt sustainable practices when meeting in Summit County.”

“A Stella Award is the finest symbol of excellence for suppliers in the meetings industry,” said Lori Cioffi, Senior Vice President and Chief Content Director for the Northstar Meetings Group. “Meeting planning is a methodical process, and attention to detail is a critical factor for success. We’ve brought that ethic to the Stella Awards. It’s a competitive, year-long nomination and evaluation process to identify and honor excellence in the meetings industry. This year’s winners are a stellar class and we congratulate the team at Visit Park City on being awarded a Gold Award for 2022.”
