The Gateway Fires Up Fall Festival Season

The Gateway in SLC

 The Gateway is preparing to kick off the fall season with the much- anticipated art and culture festivals, plus some new ones added to the calendar. Urban Arts Festival will close out summer over Labor Day weekend, followed by Hispanic Heritage Parade & Street Festival, Festa Italiana, and the inaugural Samhain Celtic Halloween and Harvest Festival. Also new this year, the Latina Social Club presents the Frida Fiesta, a celebration of Frida Kahlo. All festivals are free to attend and family friendly.

Urban Arts Festival 

September 2, 5:00-10:00 p.m. 

September 3, 12:00-10:00 p.m. 

September 4, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. 
 

Urban Arts Alliance presents this free, annual event that celebrates various urban and artistic culture. The three-day festival features art, vendors, dance, music, live street art demonstrations, computer arts, and a new performing artist on Friday night.

Hispanic Heritage Parade & Street Festival 

September 10, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. 

Take Care Utah is coordinating Utah’s 7th Annual Hispanic Heritage Parade and Street Festival. Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, the free event kicks off with a community parade at 11:00 a.m. and includes members of the Hispanic communities, organizations, and political parties representing different Hispanic countries. Food vendors will serve national cuisine from Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, and more. Adult beverages, local artisans, dance performances, live music, and other family friendly entertainment will round out the day.

Festa Italiana 

September 17, Noon-10:00 p.m. 

September 18, Noon-7:00 p.m. 

Salt Lake City’s ever-popular Italian festival will be held on historic Rio Grande Street from 100 S to the Olympic Fountain Plaza. Celebrate and discover the culture, entertainment, and culinary diversity of Italy during the festival’s seventh year. This is a non-profit, family-friendly event with proceeds supporting charities, including Catholic Community Services. 

Frida Fiesta

September 24, 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Latina Social Club presents Salt Lake City’s first-ever Frida Fiesta, a celebration of Frida Kahlo. The festival will include live painting, flower crown making, live music, and food and drinks by Flanker. 

Samhain Celtic Halloween and Harvest Festival

October 8, 11:00 a.m-10:00 p.m. 
 

Join the Hibernian Society of Utah for the Samhain Celtic Halloween and Harvest Festival complete with Irish pipe bands, traditional bands, Irish dance companies, and Irish culinary and beverage classics. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
