New research has revealed the most sought-after coupons in each American state, with food delivery coupons being the most searched for in eight states, including Utah, where Marco’s Pizza was the most searched for coupon.

The research, conducted by financial comparison site Forbes Advisor, analyzed five years of Google Trends data to establish the most Googled coupons in each U.S. state and the states that searched for coupons the most.

Tennessee ranks number one among the states which search for coupons the most across the United States. The states which searched for coupons the most are, in order of number of searches, Tennessee, New Jersey, Maryland, Alabama and Texas.

The analysis revealed that food delivery coupons were searched the most in eight states, including Utah.

Five states searched for specific restaurants—Marco’s Pizza was searched the most in Virginia, Tennessee and Utah; Corner Bakery Cafe coupons was the top search in the District of Columbia, and Missouri wanted coupons for Sarpino’s Pizzeria more than any other brand.

In Utah, search interest for Marco’s Pizza coupons was highest in Salt Lake City.

In Missouri, search interest for Sarpino’s Pizzeria coupons was highest in Kansas City and St. Louis.

In Rhode Island, search interest spiked by 1,093% above the average levels during 27 March-2 April 2022, reaching the highest levels seen in the state.

Three states searched for food delivery services—Rhode Island searched the most for DoorDash coupons; Arkansas searched most for Bite Squad coupons; Maryland searched most for Postmates coupons.

In Arkansas, search interest for Bite Squad coupons was highest in Little Rock and Pine Bluff.

Clothing coupons had the highest number of states searching for them the most, with a total of 20 American states—including California, Florida, Michigan and Washington. SHEIN was the favorite brand when searching for clothing coupons, emerging as the top search in 18 states.

Search interest for SHEIN coupons reached the highest all-time levels seen in December 2021 in California, Florida, Minnesota, Oregon and South Dakota. South Dakota recorded the largest increase in the study, where searches for SHEIN coupons skyrocketed by 1,231% above average levels during this period. Searches in Kentucky surged by 479% above the average search levels between 3-9 April 2022, reaching the highest levels seen in the state.

The only two states that searched for coupons from other clothing brands more than SHEIN were Hawaii and Massachusetts, with top searches of FIGS healthcare apparel and Fashion Nova coupons, respectively.

Coupons for Chewy pet supplies, GoodRx pharmaceuticals and various food delivery brand coupons were the top search in eight states each.

Search interest for Chewy coupons in Connecticut rose 332% above average levels in Q1 2022, peaking between 27 February-5 March 2022 to the highest levels in the state.

North Carolina saw a rise in search interest for Chewy coupons during 5-11 December 2021, increasing by 160% above average search levels.

States that Googled coupons for Chewy pet supplies the most include New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.

GoodRx pharmaceutical coupons were the top search for states such as Illinois, Alabama, Louisiana and Oklahoma, plus four others.

In Illinois, search interest spiked between 5-11 June 2022, rising by 334% above average search levels.

In Mississippi, searches for GoodRx coupons skyrocketed by 747% above average search levels between 10-16 April 2022.

QuikStop Oilube was the most searched for coupon in four states: Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

Colorado’s most Googled coupon is ParkDIA, a parking service for Denver International Airport. Search interest was highest in Denver. Search levels are currently at its highest, spiking by 1,101% above average levels between 3-9 July 2022 to reach the highest levels seen in the state.

New Jersey searched for Wayfair furniture coupons more than any other brand. Search interest was highest in New York and Philadelphia regions.

North Dakota was the only state to search for Walmart grocery coupons the most. Search interest was highest in the cities of Fargo, Valley City, Minot, Bismarck and Dickinson.

Commenting on the findings, Caroline Lupini, Credit Cards and Travel Analyst from Forbes Advisor said: “With rising costs across the nation and households feeling the squeeze on their pockets, coupons are a useful way of saving money on everyday purchases without having to switch from favored brands. This study reveals that coupons for fast fashion companies are the most sought-after in the U.S., followed by pet supplies, pharmaceuticals and food. There are some surprising outliers, such as Wayfair furniture coupons being the most popular in New Jersey, and Colorado’s ParkDIA seeing massive increases in search levels after pandemic rules were relaxed and travel became viable. It will be interesting to see how these trends develop over time as we keep an eye on the economic outlook during a market downturn.”
