Friends of Alta Junior Ranger Program - details and images

Created to appeal to and to inform kids of all ages, Friends of Alta is proud to announce
the new Alta Junior Ranger Activity Book. The Alta Junior Ranger Activity Book is a fun-filled
guide designed to help families explore, learn, and protect Alta, one of Utah’s premiere Wasatch
Mountain destinations. The book covers topics ranging from geology, to wildlife, and
environmental stewardship using kid-friendly puzzles and games. Families can complete the
activities while they are visiting Alta this summer. The books motivate children to engage with
the natural world while educating them about the importance of the watershed and Alta.
Typically, Junior Rangers are between the ages of 5 to 13, although people of all ages may
participate. Participants may submit their completed activity book certificates via email to or mail to Friends of Alta, 10201 E Hwy 210, Alta, UT, to earn an Alta
Junior Ranger badge.

“We believe that it is critically important to the future preservation of Alta and Little
Cottonwood Canyon that we educate today’s youth on the need to protect and preserve this
special place before they grow up to become tomorrow’s leaders,” said Kody Fox, Executive
Director of Friends of Alta. “Fostering a love of Alta and an understanding of its importance and
need for protection is essential to the continued preservation of this wonderful, unique, and
fragile place.” The Alta Junior Ranger Activity Books will be available while supplies last.
