Connect Finals returns to the Urban Arts Gallery for an in-person event on December 10. Artists and the general public are invited to attend to honor the finalists from the 2021 Connect series and select the recipients of $6000 in grant awards.
Established in 2010, Connect is held monthly in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Visual artists of all levels are invited to showcase their art to gain experience and peer review. Networking and mentorship is fostered at each event with the goal of developing the skills necessary for successful art careers. Connect includes practical lectures, workshops and activities to support these goals. Attendees complete the evening by voting for their favorite art piece, an experience that offers a supportive environment to introduce the competitive nature of public shows.
Since its inception, Connect continues to expand its reach and network of artists throughout the state. Connect Finals, open to the public, closes the season with a lively celebration and distribution of grant funds to be distributed between the top selected artists at the event. This year’s grant award will be $6000, a 50% increase from the previous year.
Connect Director Michael Christensen said, “Connect Finals is our way of celebrating the community’s artistic talent, and we feel confident that these artists are a good representation of what our community has to offer. The exhibiting artists at Connect Finals have been selected by their peers and attendees at Connect events throughout the year.
Utah Arts Alliance extends an open invitation to anyone who wants to support and engage the Arts community to attend this event. The cost of your ticket, as well as any donation you might make at the event, supports the expansion of this free program to new venues in the upcoming year.”
