Craft Lake City and Valley Fair have announced two new hands-on craft workshops this winter: Concrete Heart Planters with Kirsten Moore of Freckleface and Collage Journals with Shelby Pence of Shelby ARTifacts. Both workshops will be held indoors at Valley Fair (3601 S 2700 W, West Valley City, UT 84119)

Concrete Heart Planters with Kirsten Moore of Freckleface will be held on Wed., Nov. 17, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants will craft their own anatomical heart concrete planters in this DIY workshop with local artisan Freckleface. Included is a custom designed mold that attendees will learn how to cast in concrete. Various paints, gold flakes, mosses, and rocks will be provided to fine tune & customize their works of art. Participants will finish up the evening by potting up a new plant and learning about planter care. All supplies are provided, and beginners are welcome. The cost is $39 and attendees will each receive a free $10 gift card to one of the shops or restaurants at Valley Fair for their next visit.

Collage Journals with Shelby Pence of Shelby ARTifacts will take place on Wed., Dec. 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make Shelby’s signature Collage Stash Journals: notebooks designed to write/draw in and store things like notes, ticket stubs & curios! The class will begin with a simple bookbinding practice to construct envelope journals. Attendees will then learn different collage methods & tricks to adorn the covers with beautiful collage materials! Participants will choose from a wide array of curated vintage & repurposed paper goods for their collage and will have the opportunity to incorporate watercolor, illustration, and more. All supplies are provided and beginners are welcome. The cost is $39 and attendees will each receive a free $10 gift card to one of the shops or restaurants at Valley Fair for their next visit.

After a successful summer partnership, Craft Lake City and Valley Fair are curating an extended series of craft classes scheduled from now through May of 2022.
