About Upstairs @ Modern West

Through curated exhibitions and community programming Upstairs @ Modern West supports established and  emerging contemporary artists who, in compelling and varied ways, reframe our understanding of the American  West. Envisioned, constructed and owned by community member Diane Stewart, the gallery opened in 2014 in  downtown SLC and relocated further West in 2019 to a larger location to expand our offering. As a nexus for  community engagement and artistic conversation our flexible space is a platform for creation, interaction and  support. Our varied exhibitions, residency program, selection of books, workshops and collaborations with local  businesses cultivate community.
