The 2021 Gina Bachauer International Junior and Young Artists Piano Competitions will have the international piano world abuzz this June. Twenty-three Junior Competitors ages 11-14 and twenty-one Young Artists Competitors ages 15-18 will continue their quest for medals and their share of $62,000 in cash prizes. Hailing from 14 countries, these young international pianists will each vie for the title of the next Gina Bachauer Gold Medalist.
June 13-19 | Gina Bachauer Junior International Piano Competition
June 20-26 | Gina Bachauer Young Artists International Piano Competition
Chosen from an original pool of 220 applicants, 113 pianists performed in the Preliminary Rounds, with each competitor presenting a 30-minute program in one of five international cities: Hamburg, Moscow, Shanghai, New York City, and Salt Lake City.
Postponed from 2020, the Solo Rounds will now be conducted through video recordings, presented online. It is always our preference to hold live, in-person competitions, but even with improving conditions generated by vaccines, it has proven unlikely that the international health situation will allow for such events by June 2021. The Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation takes pride in presenting a competition that allows every competitor to perform at least twice before elimination. The International Jury will evaluate all performances without deliberation or voting prior to the conclusion of the second solo round. The pianists are free to choose any combination of works and composers for each program, which allows them the individuality and creativity to showcase the best of their abilities.
The Final Rounds will consist of additional video performances, presented to the jury and public only after the announcement of the five Finalists each week.
All events will be streamed at no charge via the Bachauer website and YouTube. More details coming soon to www.bachauer.com.
