Megaplex Ranks First for Wonder Woman 1984 Opening

Utah’s Megaplex Theatres scored two separate number one rankings for the biggest movies opening Christmas week.  Megaplex Theatres at The District in South Jordan ranked first in North America for the opening of Wonder Woman 1984 while Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons in Sandy ranked first for the opening of the Tom Hanks’ western drama News of the World.

Several other Megaplex Theatres locations also placed near the top of rankings for each of the films, according to film industry tracking sources.

Wonder Woman 1984 debuted with $16.7 million domestic box office on Christmas day, the highest blockbuster opening since the pandemic started in March 2020.  News of the World was the second highest-grossing film on Christmas day, with a domestic box office of $2.4 million.
