Veterans show off artistic-side at 25th Annual Creative Arts Festival

US Department Of Veteran Affairs

Veteran artists from across the Intermountain West head to the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center this week to participate in the 25th annual Veterans Creative Arts Festival.

The festival kicks off Wednesday, Feb 26 with the visual art exhibit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the building 8 multipurpose center. Dozens of pieces of Veteran art work from sculptures to paintings will be on display. On Thursday, Feb 27, performing arts take center stage in the multipurpose center from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The week wraps up with creative writing on Friday, Feb 28. All events are open to public.

VA Salt Lake City Health Care System uses creative arts as a form of rehabilitative treatment to help Veterans recover from and cope with physical and emotional injuries. The local festival gives Veteran artists the opportunity to show off their work with a chance to go on to compete in the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.
