Back for its third year, the Last Hurrah at The Gateway is the largest NYE celebration in Utah and is free and open to the public from 8 p.m. – midnight on Dec. 31, 2019. Record crowds are anticipated for this significant community celebration at the north end of The Gateway. 

Note: no large bags or outside food & beverage will be allowed.

Live music on the main stage, located in the Olympic Legacy Plaza, will be performed by Backseat LoversFlash & Flare and headliner, The National Parks Band. THE BLOCKS, Salt Lake’s Cultural Core presents THE BLOCKS Stage at Last Hurrah 2019. THE BLOCKS Stage will feature a diversity of local performing artists from 8 p.m. until midnight including Mariachi Alma Ranchero de Utah, Horrible Penny, Carlos Emjay and Talia Keys. It is located at 100 South and Rio Grande Street. 100 South will be closed to vehicle traffic. Additional entertainment schedules will be announced in early December.

The Gateway, Downtown Alliance, S&S Presents and THE BLOCKS – Salt Lake’s Cultural Core, co-sponsor the “Last Hurrah.” This popular annual event is supported Rocky Mountain Power, Coors Light and Coca-Cola and is funded in part by Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP).

The Gateway has expanded the entertainment, food and beverage offerings this year, with multiple indoor and outdoor venues giving options for the whole family to ring in the new year, including a karaoke lounge and the three popular Game Rooms. A pop-up 21+ only bar, adjacent to the Plaza, features local distillers, brewers and DJ Bo York. There is a boisterous countdown to fireworks at midnight to ring in the new year.

The newly opened Punch Bowl Social will be open with no cover during the Last Hurrah, offering specialty cocktails, gaming and NYE menu. Dave & Buster’s will have Karaoke in one room that’s free to the public (in addition to the pop-up Karaoke Lounge at the Last Hurrah). Or revelers can go VIP at Dave & Buster’s for $15/per person – includes Hot Coffee/Hot Chocolate Bar, sampling of two small appetizers, Unlimited Video Game Play Card and New Year’s Eve party favors. Tickets available HEREClark Planetarium is adding 8, 9 and 10 p.m. shows in both the theatres: Dome (U2, Led Zepelin and Dark Side of the Moon) and IMAX (Superpower Dogs 3D, Back from the Brink 3D and Secrets of the Universe 3D). Tickets will be $5 all day and there’s free access to first floor exhibits.  Dreamscapes is offering “buy one get one” admission.  Families can join Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum from 7 until 9 p.m. in the Learning Center on the ground level to make free hand-crafted noise makers, while supplies last.
