The Gateway, Utah’s premier community gathering, dining and entertainment destination, is issuing a call to local and regional artists for submissions for their newest Art Shop Project installation, Illuminate: Winter Wonderland. Artists are urged to enter innovative designs in all different mediums that incorporate an element of light and reflect the approaching winter season. Deadline for proposals is Sept. 30, 2019.
The Gateway created The Art Shop Project to support local artists and showcase their creativity in 12 vacant store windows. In their mission to bring vibrancy and art to the public and to dress up The Gateway for the winter and holiday seasons. They’re welcoming local artists and bringing the space to life with temporary art installations from local artists and students who will utilize all mediums and using light. $500 will be awarded for each selected artwork.
The Illuminate: Winter Wonderland art installation runs from early fall season 2019 into end of winter 2020. As part of The Salt Lake Art Stroll, The Gateway is also able to offer artists the opportunity to open their space each month to showcase and sell their other art pieces and projects.
“We’re so excited to be able to offer this opportunity for local artists to utilize such a unique platform. This is a great opportunity for their art to be on display during Illuminate and Last Hurrah and reach more than one million annual visitors to The Gateway,” said Jacklyn Briggs, marketing director for The Gateway. “We’ll essentially give selected artists freedom to do their own thing, and we’re always amazed at the stunning works of art that are created.”
