June 28th, 2019 is National Food Truck Day. The Food Truck League invites you to celebrate with them at events in Bountiful, Millcreek, Stansbury Park, Spanish Fork and Riverton at Petersen’s Farm. Food Truck League Nights are a great way to celebrate the communities we live in and support local small businesses.

Food trucks first started popping up in Utah around 9 years ago. Since then the industry has grown to over 300 individual food truck businesses, and there are as many food trucks per capita in Utah as anywhere in the country. Food truck nights are hosted in cities throughout the Wasatch Front almost every day. Going to these events supports local food trucks and also supports your city, because food truck events provide a gathering place for friends, neighbors and families to celebrate your community.

General Manager of The Food Truck League Taylor Harris explains that food truck events are “how we create a strong community where we meet each other, talk to each other and feel like we’re together.” Whether it is a Summer festival, a race, or a fundraiser you will often find a food truck nearby. Food trucks visit as many as 100 locations each week throughout the Salt Lake Valley alone.

Food trucks also provide an avenue for chefs to showcase their talent who would not be able to otherwise and in ways a brick and mortar restaurant would not allow. Truck owners are able to take their passion for food and create a business that has the advantage of being mobile, making it easier for them to bring their cuisine to you. Additionally, they allow chefs from all over the world to bring flavors from their native countries to their menus.

Harris goes on to explain that “You’re going to try something you haven’t already had 10 million times and you’re tasting something different. Then you can share it with your friends, you can talk about it, and it’s an experience as much as it is a meal.”.

Come join these talented local food creators and celebrate with us on June 28th.
