South Jordan Now Home to Karate-Themed Kids Coding Center

Code Ninjas

Say the words, “video game” and your kids are bound to stop and listen. The local owner of a new Code Ninjas, a learning center that debuts on March 23 at 3721 W. South Jordan Parkway, Ste. 130, knows that video games aren’t only fun, but educational. Code Ninjas will serve the local area by teaching children computer coding and problem solving skills while having fun building video games.

The grand opening for the new Code Ninjas in South Jordan will be held on March 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will consist of tours of the new space and various learning stations including Ozobots, Snap Circuits, Kamigami Robots, Virtual Reality as well as some video game building demonstrations.

The South Jordan location is owned and operated by Lehi local, Brandon Robins. After beginning his career in the start-up industry, Brandon quickly discovered his dream of opening his own business. In 2009 he opened an insulation company that he owned and operated with a friend.  After selling his half the company in 2017, Brandon set out to find a new business idea that aligned with his passions and something that the local community could benefit from as well as his four sons. Brandon’s oldest son had a passion for tech and games so when he found Code Ninjas, he knew this kind of fun video game-based learning concept was just what the South Jordan community would benefit from. With nothing else like it in the area, Brandon saw that this type of education was essential for setting kids up for success and he knew that this would be a concept his son would love as well as other kids in the community.  Brandon is opening four locations across the Salt Lake City area with the South Jordan location being his first and plans to open three more with his second location opening this fall in Lehi.

“Code Ninjas provides great value to children by teaching the ever more important skill of coding and computer programming in a fun and engaging way, which will be essential in the coming years.  It will also help develop important decision-making and problem-solving skills to help them grow and prepare for the future,” said Brandon. “Code Ninjas will offer children in the South Jordan community valuable life skills by providing an experience and atmosphere that will help them build confidence, increase their team-building and social skills, and learn to set and accomplish goals.”

Children ages 7-14 in the South Jordan area can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.

Code Ninjas accomplishes this with a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis and fellow students as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish an app in an app store.

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, camps and Parents Night Out events on weekends.

Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults. After numerous inquiries from parents, Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.

“Parents want their children to learn the critical skills that they’ll need in the future, but it also has to be fun for kids. Code Ninjas has found that sweet spot where kids have fun and parents see results, and we’re truly excited to bring our unique concept to South Jordan and surrounding communities,” said Graham.

Center tours and informational calls are available now. For more information about the South Jordan Code Ninjas location, please visit the website.
